Preparing volunteers to visit workers

Outreach & Community Education to Farmworkers

In order for farmworkers to avail themselves of their rights under the law, they must first be informed about what rights they have.   Our bilingual staff provide information to farmworkers and their families throughout the state about their legal rights by:
visiting with farmworkers in their labor camp homes in the evening when the work is done to share written materials and inform them of the availability of our services;
meeting with groups of farmworkers, such as parents at migrant head start programs, farmworker parishioners after Spanish language services, workers and families in waiting rooms at migrant health clinics, or crews living in labor camps, to make presentations or conduct workshops;
ppearing on Spanish language radio and TV programs to discuss legal topics of current interest; and
attending health fairs and festivals targeted to farmworkers to provide make contact with workers and provide written and oral information.
We welcome volunteers for outreach with our Witness for Justice
