Caitlin Ryland ~ Managing Attorney ~ Email
Caitlin Ryland is a Managing Attorney with the Farmworker Unit of Legal Aid of North Carolina. She is currently serving her fourth term on the North Carolina Human Trafficking Commission and is the Project Director for Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative. She has previously served in a leadership capacity in the North Carolina Coalition Against Human Trafficking, the Rapid Response Team of the Triangle, and the Farmworker Advocacy Network. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Swarthmore College and her Juris Doctor and Health Law Certificate from the University of Maryland, School of Law.
Aaron Jacobson ~ Supervising Attorney ~ Email
Aaron Jacobson is a Supervising Attorney with the Farmworker Unit of Legal Aid of North Carolina. He joined the FWU in November of 2017. He served on the Executive Board of the North Carolina Coalition Against Human Trafficking from 2019 to 2022. Before joining the Farmworker Unit, he worked as an attorney with Immigration Pathways for Victims (formerly the Battered Immigrant Project) of Legal Aid of North Carolina for approximately four years, where he also represented victims of human trafficking and other violent crimes. He is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law. Prior to attending law school, he worked as an organizer, or field representative, for the Farm Labor Organizing Committee for several years.
Megan Garcia-Davis ~ Staff Attorney ~ Email
Megan Garcia-Davis is a Staff Attorney with the Farmworker Unit of Legal Aid of North Carolina. She graduated from the North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she was president of the Hispanic Law Student Association. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Child & Family Studies and Peace & Social Justice Studies from Berea College in Berea, Kentucky. She recently completed an intensive language immersion course in Oaxaca City in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico to improve her Spanish language skills.
Michael Boyd ~ Staff Attorney ~ Email
Michael Boyd is a Staff Attorney with the Farmworker Unit of Legal Aid of North Carolina. He graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2021 and, prior to joining the Farmworker Unit, was an attorney with Legal Aid’s Tenant Eviction Diversion program. Before law school, he worked in politics, state government, and labor.

Paola Cira is an Outreach & Litigation Paralegal with the Farmworker Unit of Legal Aid of North Carolina. She attended Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina where she studied Political Science and International Relations. At Meredith College, she served at president of Angeles Latinas.
Juan Carabaña ~ Outreach & Litigation Paralegal ~ Email
Juan Carabaña is an Outreach & Litigation Paralegal with the Farmworker Unit of Legal Aid of North Carolina. Prior to his work with the Farmworker Unit, he served as a Community Outreach Manager and as an Interim Executive Director of the Episcopal Farmworker Ministry in Dunn, North Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and was awarded his Ph.D. summa cum laude in Molecular Biology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He also is a certified Medical Spanish Interpreter through Durham Technical Community College.
Estephania Mijangos ~ Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative Paralegal ~ Email
Estephania Mijangos is the Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative Paralegal with the Farmworker Unit of Legal Aid of North Carolina. She comes to the Farmworker Unit as an accomplished paralegal with experience assisting attorneys to handle immigration cases and state and federal criminal and civil matters. She received her Associate in Arts Degree from Wake Tech Community College.
Sophia Robinson ~ Community Education Coordinator~ Email
Sophia Robinson is the Community Education Coordinator with the Farmworker Unit of Legal Aid of North Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Arts in International Global Studies from Elon University. At Elon, Sophia served as Student Coordinator for El Centro, a campus center focused on education, advocacy, and support for Latinx/Hispanic students. After Elon, she participated in a year-long fellowship with Yspaniola, an educational non-profit in the Dominican Republic, where she worked in partnership with a community made up of majority migrant agricultural workers and their families.
